Soju
Soju
A Brief History of Soju:
Soju traces its origins back to the 13th century during the Mongol invasions of Korea. The Mongols introduced Middle Eastern distillation techniques, which led to the creation of Soju—a clear spirit originally distilled from rice. During periods of hardship, when rice became scarce, Koreans adapted the recipe using sweet potatoes, barley, and wheat. Today, Soju is known for its clean flavour, moderate alcohol content, and strong cultural significance—often enjoyed during meals, celebrations, and social gatherings across generations.
Jinro Soju Flavours – 360ml | R690
Jinro is the world’s best-selling Soju brand, offering both traditional and fruit-infused expressions to suit every palate.
Original
The classic. Crisp, clean, and mildly sweet with a soft finish. Enjoy it chilled or with your favourite Korean dishes.
Plum
Rich and aromatic, this Soju offers a deep fruitiness with floral notes and a smooth, lingering sweetness.
Grape
Bright, juicy, and playful. This white grape-flavoured Soju is lightly tangy with a refreshing finish—perfect for first-time Soju drinkers.
Strawberry
Sweet, soft, and full of ripe strawberry flavour. A fun and easy-drinking option that's as delicious as it is approachable.
Grapefruit
Zesty and invigorating. The citrusy sharpness of grapefruit balances beautifully with Soju’s natural sweetness, making it crisp and refreshing.
Sake Selection
Sake Selection
We’re diving deep into sake—from classic Junmai to sparkling sake, our rotating list invites you to explore the many faces of Japan’s national drink. Sake, also known as 'nihonshu,' is a traditional Japanese alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice. It has been enjoyed in Japan for centuries and is an integral part of the country's culture and cuisine.
Junmai sake is pure rice sake, made without any added alcohol or sugar, showcasing a rich and full-bodied flavour that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes. On the other hand, sparkling sake offers a delightful twist with its effervescent bubbles and refreshing taste, making it perfect for celebrations or as an aperitif.
At Yatai Ramen Bar, we are passionate about sake and are excited to bring you a diverse selection to enhance your dining experience. Whether you are a seasoned sake enthusiast or a curious newcomer, our curated list is designed to delight and surprise your palate.
Our entire sake range is sold in either 175ml carafe, 750ml carafe or the whole 750ml bottle. We offer a range of sake-based cocktails to try as well.
Japanese Whiskeys
Japanese Whiskeys
Our back bar is now stocked with a refined selection of Japanese whiskeys—from smoky to floral, there's something to suit every palate. Japanese whiskeys are revered worldwide for their meticulous craftsmanship, blending innovative techniques with traditional practices to create unique and sophisticated flavours.
Take, for example, the Suntory Toki, known for its exceptional balance and harmony, featuring a silky texture with a subtly sweet and spicy finish. It's a great introduction to Japanese whiskey, highlighting the delicate artistry involved in its production.
Another excellent choice is the Nikka Gold & Gold Samurai, offering a rich and complex profile with hints of honey, spices, and a smooth, lingering finish. The Samurai edition is particularly notable for its distinctive packaging, which adds an element of cultural heritage to its presentation.
The crown jewel of our whiskey offering is Hibiki 21, crafted by Suntory and aged for at least 21 years. It boasts a rich amber hue, with aromas of dried fruits, honey, and dark chocolate. The palate features sweet caramel, ripe plums, and a subtle spiciness, leading to a smooth finish. This whiskey was awarded “World’s Best Blended Whisky” in 2010, 2011, 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2019.
Whether you are a seasoned connoisseur or new to the world of Japanese whiskeys, our selection promises an enlightening journey into the heart of Japanese distilling traditions.
