The month of shared plates, lingering lunches and candlelit dinners calls for a menu designed to be savoured slowly. Think golden corn fritters with maple paprika glaze, silky risotto kissed with miso brown butter, smoked brisket mezzaluna made for twirling, and duck breast with roasted honey figs that begs for a second bite.
Our February Cicchetti Menu is all about connection. Ordering for the table. Pouring another glass. Falling a little in love with every course.
Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day or simply celebrating each other, this is your sign to book the table.
Come hungry. Leave smitten.

The Cape Wine Auction: Lots of wine, generosity & once-in-a-lifetime experiences
The Cape Wine Auction: Lots of wine, generosity & once-in-a-lifetime experiences
One of the world’s most prestigious charity wine auctions will once again take centre stage in 2026, as The Cape Wine Auction, in proud partnership with Nederburg, returns on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Set against the elegant backdrop of the Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl, the event brings together icons of the wine industry, international collectors, philanthropists and social tastemakers for a day of glamour, generosity and extraordinary giving.
Regarded as one of the most significant international wine charity auctions ever conceived in South Africa, the Cape Wine Auction has, since its inception in 2014, united the wine industry around a single, powerful mission: to raise funds for youth education in the Cape Winelands. In just over a decade, the event has raised more than R135 million, all of which has been directed to carefully selected beneficiaries working at the forefront of educational development.
These beneficiaries operate within a collaborative and highly effective model that emphasises strategic impact, best-practice sharing and measurable outcomes. A board of Trustees – leaders in corporate, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial sectors, along with a full-time Trust Facilitator – ensures that every rand raised drives real and lasting change.
As ever, the 2026 auction catalogue promises one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-repeated lots for guests to bid on, ranging from rare wines to international escapes, luxury private home stays and VIP access to the inner circles of wine, art, sport and culture.
“These opportunities come along once, for one auction and are seldom repeated,” notes Cape Wine Auction Director Darielle Robertson.
Below is a preview of some of the standout lots already confirmed for what is anticipated to be one of the most exceptional Cape Wine Auction events to date.
- AdVini France – The Domaine Laroche Experience offers a rare immersion into one of France’s most storied wine regions; a must for lovers of history, terroir and pristine Chardonnay. The winning bidder, along with five friends, will journey into the historic heart of Chablis as this exclusive experience unfolds at the famed Obédiencerie, where centuries of craftsmanship have shaped the legacy of Domaine Laroche wines. The package includes a night’s accommodation at the charming Le Vieux Moulin Domaine Laroche in Chablis, vineyard and cellar tours, the tasting of seven exceptional wines, lunch at Domaine Laroche and a visit to the Cité des Climats museum.
- Serve, Sip, and Celebrate: Journey’s End Wines & LTA Queen’s Tennis Experience. A spectacular combination of world-class wine and elite sport, this prize begins at Journey’s End, the acclaimed Stellenbosch winery celebrated for its cool-climate finesse and ethical winemaking philosophy. As the official wine partner to Britain’s Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Journey’s End will send the winning bidder to a VIP experience at the iconic Queen’s Club Championships in London, a pinnacle moment in the global grass-court season. The package includes two tickets to the Queen’s Club Championships with access to the LTA Partner Suite, with gourmet dining, premium wine and private Centre Court access along with a two-night stay in a top London hotel and dinner at one of London’s leading restaurants.

Picnic Under the Stars
Picnic Under the Stars
As the long summer days begin to soften into golden evenings, Nederburg invites you to linger a little longer and experience something truly special — our new “Under the Stars” evening picnics. This December, on three unforgettable nights, the farm will open its lawns after sunset for a series of relaxed, music-filled evenings that capture the easy magic of a South African summer.
Picture it: the sun dipping behind the mountains, soft music in the background, laughter carrying through the warm air. You’re stretched out on a blanket beneath the trees, a glass of Nederburg wine in hand, the scent of summer herbs mingling with freshly cut grass. It’s laid-back, beautiful, and unmistakably Nederburg — where hospitality and heart meet under the night sky.
Each picnic basket is thoughtfully curated to showcase local, seasonal flavours — a true taste of the Cape Winelands. Expect a feast that begins with local cheeses, marinated olives, and seasonal fruit, paired with house-made onion marmalade and crisp lavash. Enjoy artisanal bread with whipped butter, smoked trout pâté, and grilled free-range chicken in a velvety coronation sauce with almonds and apricots. Rustic baby potato salad, pickled beetroot with creamy feta, and a fresh garden salad round off the savoury selection. To finish, indulge in classic South African milk tart and peppermint crisp tart, both as nostalgic as they are delicious.
The experience is open to everyone — couples looking for a romantic night out, families wanting to make the most of the holidays, and friends simply seeking a beautiful evening together. The expansive lawns provide plenty of space for kids to play, and well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome too. Bring your own blanket or low chairs, find your spot beneath the stars, and let the evening unfold.
Each Under the Stars event features live local music to set the tone:
Newton & Co on 13 December
Johan van der Merwe on 20 December
Juan Casey on 27 December
