Bantry Bay, Western Cape , -

The President Hotel will mark Valentine’s Day on Saturday, 14 February 2025, with a combined sunset dinner and open-air silent cinema experience, offering guests an evening that brings together dining and film in a coastal setting.

The event begins with dinner at 6pm, followed by a screening of About Time at 8:30pm. Guests will enjoy the film via a silent cinema setup, complete with wireless headphones and loungers, allowing for an immersive viewing experience under the evening sky.

Priced at R895 per person, the experience includes a movie ticket, headphone rental, lounger, a multi-course Valentine’s dinner, a build-your-own dessert and movie snack box, and a welcome drink.

Couples looking to enhance their experience can opt for a VIP upgrade at R195 per person, which includes premium seating for the movie screening as well as a bottle of mini bubbles (sparkling wine) per couple, adding an extra touch of comfort and celebration to the evening.

The curated menu opens with amuse-bouches such as Saldanha oysters with rose-scented mignonette and whipped chevin goats’ cheese with rosemary crostini. Starter options include cured salmon with compressed fennel and champagne beurre blanc or beetroot tortellini. For mains, guests may choose between beef fillet with truffled pomme anna or a fynbos and miso king oyster mushroom steak with saffron-roasted cauliflower.

The evening concludes with a dessert-focused movie box featuring a chocolate fountain with accompaniments, popcorn with a range of toppings, tartlets, cheesecakes, petite gâteaux, cupcakes and tres leches cake.

Valentine’s Date Night Dinner at Botany Café (Dinner-Only Option)

For guests who prefer a more intimate dining experience without the movie, The President Hotel is also offering a three-course Valentine’s Date Night dinner at Botany Café on 14 February from 6pm, priced at R645 per person. The Cape Wine Auction: Lots of wine, generosity & once-in-a-lifetime experiences

The Cape Wine Auction: Lots of wine, generosity & once-in-a-lifetime experiences

Ends 07 February 2026
Paarl, Western Cape , -

One of the world’s most prestigious charity wine auctions will once again take centre stage in 2026, as The Cape Wine Auction, in proud partnership with Nederburg, returns on Saturday, February 7, 2026. Set against the elegant backdrop of the Nederburg Wine Estate in Paarl, the event brings together icons of the wine industry, international collectors, philanthropists and social tastemakers for a day of glamour, generosity and extraordinary giving.

Regarded as one of the most significant international wine charity auctions ever conceived in South Africa, the Cape Wine Auction has, since its inception in 2014, united the wine industry around a single, powerful mission: to raise funds for youth education in the Cape Winelands. In just over a decade, the event has raised more than R135 million, all of which has been directed to carefully selected beneficiaries working at the forefront of educational development.

These beneficiaries operate within a collaborative and highly effective model that emphasises strategic impact, best-practice sharing and measurable outcomes. A board of Trustees – leaders in corporate, philanthropic, and entrepreneurial sectors, along with a full-time Trust Facilitator – ensures that every rand raised drives real and lasting change.

As ever, the 2026 auction catalogue promises one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-repeated lots for guests to bid on, ranging from rare wines to international escapes, luxury private home stays and VIP access to the inner circles of wine, art, sport and culture.

“These opportunities come along once, for one auction and are seldom repeated,” notes Cape Wine Auction Director Darielle Robertson.

Below is a preview of some of the standout lots already confirmed for what is anticipated to be one of the most exceptional Cape Wine Auction events to date.

  • AdVini France – The Domaine Laroche Experience offers a rare immersion into one of France’s most storied wine regions; a must for lovers of history, terroir and pristine Chardonnay. The winning bidder, along with five friends, will journey into the historic heart of Chablis as this exclusive experience unfolds at the famed Obédiencerie, where centuries of craftsmanship have shaped the legacy of Domaine Laroche wines. The package includes a night’s accommodation at the charming Le Vieux Moulin Domaine Laroche in Chablis, vineyard and cellar tours, the tasting of seven exceptional wines, lunch at Domaine Laroche and a visit to the Cité des Climats museum.
  • Serve, Sip, and Celebrate: Journey’s End Wines & LTA Queen’s Tennis Experience. A spectacular combination of world-class wine and elite sport, this prize begins at Journey’s End, the acclaimed Stellenbosch winery celebrated for its cool-climate finesse and ethical winemaking philosophy. As the official wine partner to Britain’s Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), Journey’s End will send the winning bidder to a VIP experience at the iconic Queen’s Club Championships in London, a pinnacle moment in the global grass-court season. The package includes two tickets to the Queen’s Club Championships with access to the LTA Partner Suite, with gourmet dining, premium wine and private Centre Court access along with a two-night stay in a top London hotel and dinner at one of London’s leading restaurants.
  • A Seven-Night Stay in a Classic Collection Villa by The Hideaways Club. Imagine a week in a beautiful villa in one of the world’s most desirable destinations, from the shimmering shores of the Mediterranean to serene Asian hideaways and dramatic African landscapes. This lot offers a seven-night stay in any Classic Collection villa managed by The Hideaways Club, known for curating extraordinary homes of character and comfort. Guests can awaken to the rustic charm of a Provençal farmhouse, explore the vibrant souks of Marrakech or unwind beside crystalline waters in Mallorca. Designed for indoor-outdoor living, each villa features private gardens, spacious living areas, and breathtaking surroundings. A dedicated concierge service will curate every detail: from private chefs to spa sessions, local explorations to unforgettable dining recommendations.
  • In Moment II – a Life-Size Bronze by Anton Smit. Standing nearly two metres tall, In Moment II by revered South African sculptor Anton Smit, is a breathtaking expression of humanity, openness and transcendence. With arms outstretched, the figure embodies surrender, grace and connection, hallmarks of Smit’s celebrated style, which explores the balance between vulnerability and power. This extraordinary piece offers bidders an opportunity to own a monumental artwork by one of the country’s most important sculptors, while contributing to a meaningful cause.
