Mexican, but not as you know it!
Come and experience guacamole made to order at your table. Tortillas are made fresh daily, and we nurture our live culture mole sauce for that extra punch in every delectable bite. Our meats and seafood are prepared on an authentic Mexican charcoal grill. Add all of this to your complimentary candy floss and you are in for an experience to remember.
Inspired by Baja California, Hacienda is a destination where guests can experience a modern twist on authentic COASTAL MEXICAN cuisine, paired with exclusively selected Tequilas and Mezcals from the Baja California peninsula region in Mexico. We offer a dining experience not to be found anywhere else in Cape Town.
So what is Baja exactly? Pronounced: B-AH-h-ah:
Situated on the Northwestern coastline of Mexico, stretching south from the US border along the Pacific coast, lies Baja California. Best known for being the origin of the “Baja fish taco”, the Baja region of Mexico is also known for its endless coastlines and Mediterranean climate. With seafood being the main staple of the region, the area is very well suited to produce great meat, fresh fruit & vegetables, wine and olive oil. All of which is why Baja cuisine has gained a global reputation for being bright, fresh and very tasty.
What about the rest of Mexico?
Mexico is a diverse land with many different regions, each producing its own unique food and drink. We looked towards these regions to help us bring you the very best of authentic Mexican cuisine.
Tequila and Mezcal from the BAJÍO Region:
The vast majority of tequilas are produced in this region. We curated a bespoke selection of tequilas and mezcals that are exclusively sourced for us. For the adventurous souls out there, we offer a carefully crafted tequila tasting flight, so that you can experience the true soul of Mexico.
Tortillas and Tacos from the Central Region:
Best known for authentic Mexican street food, it is also known as the origin of the Tortilla, the cornerstone of Mesoamerican cuisine. At Hacienda we produce three varieties of Masa Flour Tortillas and tacos, all of which are freshly made by hand daily.
Mole from Oxaxaca:
This region is considered by many to be the gastronomic capital of Mexico. It is best known for its sauce called Mole (pronounced MOH-lay). Mole is a complex sauce with as many as 30 individual ingredients prepped in different ways. Mole is alive, similar to a mother dough starter for sourdough bread. The sauce is kept alive by feeding it each day allowing its flavour to change as it ages. There is never a dull day if you have Mole.
Our Mole is currently 309 days old!

Patrón Tequila stands as a beacon of quality and craftsmanship in the world of spirits. Renowned for its meticulous production process and rich heritage, Patrón has captured the hearts of tequila aficionados worldwide.
This journey began in Jalisco, Mexico, where the agave plant flourishes under the watchful eye of skilled artisans dedicated to maintaining centuries-old traditions.
At the core of Patrón's excellence lies its commitment to traditional methods of production. The process starts with the blue weber agave, a plant that requires 8 to 10 years to mature. Once harvested, the agave piñas are hand-selected and slow-roasted in small brick ovens. This method ensures that the natural flavours are preserved, and the sugars are gently caramelised, setting the stage for the next crucial step: fermentation.
Patrón employs a combination of traditional tahona and roller mill methods to extract the agave juice.
The fermentation process takes place in wooden vats, a practice that adds depth and character to the tequila. Following fermentation, the liquid is distilled in copper stills, ensuring purity and capturing the essence of the agave.
Patrón Tequila is more than just a spirit; it is a testament to the art of craftsmanship and the passion of those who create it. Its journey from the fields of Jalisco to the glasses of connoisseurs around the world is a story of dedication, innovation, and excellence. As you savour each sip, you become part of a legacy that honours tradition and celebrates the vibrant culture of Mexico.
At Hacienda, we boast the largest range of Patrón, so if you are interested in an everyday tequila or a top-of-the-range, celebratory, sipping tequila, we have all the options.
