British Master of Wine, Tim Atkin has awarded The Last Elephant’s 2021 vintage 93 Points in the 2023 Best of South Africa Report.

This is the third consecutive year that this exceptional wine has been awarded 93 points by the esteemed critic and adds to the ever growing list of awards for this exceptional wine.

This small-production wine was crafted as a tribute to the last elephant seen leaving the Valley in the late 19th century and boldly carries the gentle giants’ legacy.

The Last Elephant is exclusively made from the very best barrels produced by the winery each year. This is proved by a string of outstanding scores and accolades since its maiden release in 2015.

This beautiful red blend is full and complex. The nose is evocative, showing blackcurrants, red cherries, cedar wood, lead pencil and cigar box aromas. These develop in the glass and are joined by raspberry, black cherry, spice and a hint of gaminess. On the palate, the wine is powerful but elegant, with fine tannins that continue to soften in the glass.

Finally, it is rooted in superb winemaking history, and is the perfect addition to every occasion.
