Step Into Spring at the 2025 Franschhoek Open Gardens Festival
30 August 2025
This November, the picturesque village of Franschhoek will once again burst into colour as it welcomes garden lovers, green fingers and seekers of natural beauty to the annual Franschhoek Open Gardens Festival — an inspiring weekend where the valley comes to life in full bloom.
From Friday to Sunday, 14–16 November, visitors are invited to explore a vibrant collection of ten diverse gardens, each space is a unique expression of local creativity, design and natural beauty. From charming village plots to expansive farm gardens that stretch toward the mountains, this year’s selection promises both familiar favourites and fresh discoveries.
Wander at your own pace from 9:00 to 16:00 daily, guided by a brochure complete with garden descriptions and a detailed map to help you take in every corner of this blooming celebration. Gardens such as Bagatelle de la Cotte, La Cotte Farm Garden, Farm Lorraine, Koko House, Villa Blanca, and The Cow Shed are just a few highlights — each space thoughtfully nurtured and proudly shared by its passionate custodians. (Full garden descriptions can be found here)
Along the way, guests are treated to more than nature in full bloom. Traditional tea and homemade scones will be served on lush lawns, while local Cap Classiques and wines will be available to sip as you wander. Plant sales and a curated selection of locally crafted goods inspired by native flora add a special touch, allowing visitors to take a little piece of the experience home.
This year’s programme also includes engaging talks hosted in selected gardens — offering insights and inspiration from passionate growers, designers and horticultural minds.
By attending, you’re also supporting two vital local causes: Fleur de Lis Home for the Aged and Franschhoek Emergency Services, with all proceeds going directly to their ongoing work in the community.
The festival also serves as a reminder of the many public gardens and wine estates in the region, many of which welcome visitors throughout the year— perfect for extending your stay and enjoying more of what this enchanting region has to offer.
