Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival brings SA’s top wines to consumers

Swirl, sniff and sip your way through the best of South Africa’s wines at the annual Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival, taking place in Durban on Saturday 19, August 2023.
The retailer brings the Cape Winelands to Chris Saunders Park in Umhlanga for one day only on 19 August, accompanied by delicious food and an afternoon of live entertainment.
With every imaginable varietal on offer for wine lovers to sample, alongside a simply sumptuous selection of fresh and delicious food offerings, it is definitely a day to discover new wines and enjoy old favourites, from elegant, crisp white wines and full-bodied, robust reds to French champagne.
Some 30 farms will be showcasing their wines at the Festival, and a general ticket includes a tasting glass and 20 wine-tasting vouchers. Expert sommeliers will guide festivalgoers through the various tasting options and explain each wine’s unique flavours and aromas for a renewed appreciation for the different wines.
Some other popular features at the Pick n Pay Wine & Food Festival include the Sparkling Experience, which boasts some of the greatest local brands and finest French champagne, as well as an afternoon of live music by local musicians – Idols SA Season 12 winner Noma Khumalo, 3-time Idols SA golden ticket winner Winston Moonsamy, Daniel Jenkins and Jemma Kate Brown.
For food, an impressive range can be enjoyed under the trees or at the expansive seating areas near the wine stands or live music. Options range from ‘hot out-the-oven’ pizzas and gourmet burgers to cheese and Charcuterie platters, oysters, sushi, and the all-new butter chicken curry. There are also vegan and vegetarian options available.
Festivalgoers can pre-book a Pick n Pay Picnic Basket with a curated showcase of delectable offerings. Think selected cheeses, cured hams, freshly baked bread, biltong, hummus, and more.
The event starts at noon on Saturday, 19 August. Pick n Pay Wine Club members can purchase tickets for early access from 12pm, while general the general public may join the festivities from 1pm. Tickets start at R250 per person. For more information, please visit: www.pnpwineandfoodfestival.co.za

Pick n Pay Wine Club members have the exclusive opportunity to enjoy the festivities from 12pm already. Please check that you select the correct option when you book your ticket.
1pm – 4pm: | General Pouring / Tasting
The Token System will be in place for tastings. One token per tasting, and the 50ml tasting portion reaches the tasting line that is clearly printed on your glass. These tokens are in place to ensure that everyone receives a single tasting; please do not try to exchange multiple tokens for a full glass of wine. Tokens expire at 4pm and are not redeemable for cash.
12pm – 5pm | Wine Sales from Stands, as well as Food Sales & Entertainment
Wine sales for on-site consumption only, sold directly from stands. Enjoy your favourite wine and some delicious food while enjoying live music.
Only Pick n Pay Wine Club member ticket holders have access to the event between 12pm and 1pm
