Meet Siyo Gysman : A Sommelier with a flair for pairing

Born and raised in the picturesque town of Gonubie, Eastern Cape, Siyo Gysman originally set his sights on becoming a chef after completing his studies in Hospitality. However, a serendipitous evening out with his family ignited a passion for wine that would ultimately shape his career. From that moment on, Siyo's journey took a new direction, leading him to become a distinguished sommelier.

At Fairlawns, Siyo has meticulously curated a wine list that is both unique and captivating, blending exclusive vintages with the rich flavours of South African terroirs and select international gems. His approach to wine is both personal and thoughtful, as he explains: “I love offering pairing recommendations and guiding guests in their wine selections by first understanding their preferences. My goal is to elevate their entire wine journey.”
