Gielie’s Longest Braai Attempt - A Final Push for the Record

In 2023, local braai enthusiast Gielie came close to securing a Guinness World Record for the Longest Braai. But while the effort was monumental, Guinness came back with a polite: “Nice try, but no cigar.”
Now, Gielie is ready to fire up the coals one last time. With determination, community spirit, and plenty of wood, he’s preparing for another official record attempt this September in Calitzdorp.
This isn’t just about setting a record. It’s about showcasing the heart of South Africa – the spirit of ubuntu.
