Dining in the historic town of Riebeek Kasteel ...
Riebeek Kasteel is one of the Western Cape’s most loved dining destinations. Our chefs use fresh ingredients, many of which are sourced within the local area from artisans, bakers, farmers and butchers.
Guests have the choice to dine at one of our in house restaurants.
The Royal Restaurant:
Stemming from 150 years of history we have designed our menu to accommodate classics but also bring in modern dishes. Serving breakfast (8:00 – 10:30), lunch (12:00 – 15:00) and dinner (from 18:00) we serve all palates from fresh West coast seafood to local beef and free range chicken.
The Blue Room:
The Blue Room, the fine dining restaurant of the Swartland. Setting a new standard for the region’s culinary scene, this intimate restaurant offers an exquisite eight-course menu to just a handful of guests each evening.
Here, Chef Francois du Toit creates dishes that showcase both his classical training and creative spirit. His sophisticated menu draws inspiration from global techniques while celebrating local ingredients, creating an unforgettable dining journey that puts the Swartland firmly on South Africa’s gastronomic map.
This dinner-only restaurant doesn’t just add to the region’s reputation for excellence in wine and hospitality – it transforms it, introducing a level of refined dining that makes every evening extraordinary.
Kamar Biru Indonesia:
Indulge in the taste of Indonesia with a traditional rijsttafel. A rijsttafel is more than having dinner, it’s a social experience and in our setting the prefect way to entertain friends and family. The flagship of Indonesian cuisine is not just one dish but with a variety of dishes “build” around the rice (rijst) dishes. Although already served for over 200 years the rijsttafel was first presented to the rest of the world in 1889 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris. The only Dutch part of the rijsttafel is the name. All dishes are Indonesian originating from different islands.
Au Bouchon Rouge Brasserie:
Although living and cooking in SA for many years Parisian chef Julien Debray never lost his passion for the cuisine he grew up with. Now the time has come to share that passion with you. Here we don’t do what’s fashionable. Here we just do what we do. Serving French comfort food made with fresh, local, seasonal and organic produce.
Come and join us for lunch and on some days for dinner. We will have something for everyone’s liking but don’t look for a burger, Bobotie or pizza on our menu. We are a French Brasserie after all. Our brasserie is located next to the hotel.
The Bar:
Our 150-year-old bar offers a wide ranging menu of local and international gins through to mouthwatering cocktails, all of which can be enjoyed in front of the fire place or on our stoep (veranda) whilst watching the crowds go by.
High Tea:
Feel like royalty with our High Tea experience at The Royal Hotel. Indulge in French pastries, delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones and other delicious eats with a cup of tea, a glass of MCC or a G&T. High Tea is available on Saturdays at 3pm (Please book 48hours in advance)
