Wishing you a Darling Sweet Festive Season!
03 December 2024
From tweens to teens, to dads and moms and grandparents, great and great-great, receiving a box of mouth-wateringly good confectionery for Christmas is the ultimate cherry on top of the festive gift pile!
Darling Sweet’s range of toffees, soft caramels and fudge make for the perfect stocking filler for the family, as a last-minute present for an unexpected visitor or table treats for guests around the Christmas table.
The range includes 10 different flavour toffees (Tannie Evita’s Classic, Liquorice, Honey and Salt, Bird’s Eye Chili, Orange & Cranberry, Coffee, Chocolate, Ginger Snap, Mint, Rooibos Chai), eight soft caramel flavours (Mint, Salted, Ginger & Cardamom, Mocha Java, Summer Berry, Chocolate & Orange, Salted Liquorice, Butterscotch) and their recently released, and oh-so-moreish fudge. In addition, Darling Sweet also produces three flavours of melt-in-the-mouth toffee spreads (Tannie Evita’s Classic, Honey & Salt, Bird’s Eye Chili), which make for a wonderful dessert (see recipe below).
For those wanting to be generous, Darling Sweet has created a 360g Assorted Toffees box, a 360g Assorted Soft Caramels box and a 300g Toffee Bar gift box. All available with a specially designed festive sleeve.
And for that extra special someone, there are also Darling Sweet Hampers and Gift Boxes, containing various Darling Sweet treats available from their online store.
Says Darling Sweet’s Frits van Ryneveld: “We think there’s nothing nicer than having your own box of favourite toffees or soft caramels or fudge to indulge in over the festive season. But it’s also a great idea to open a box and leave it on the coffee table for everyone to enjoy – but they will disappear quickly, so it makes sense to get more than a box or two!
“What one fan told us last year is that when decorating their festive lunch table, they had scattered an assortment of toffees and caramels around the table, tucked it into the tinsel and hidden it amongst the holly and watched as guests enjoyed them between courses.
“Another idea is to surreptitiously (and carefully) squeeze a toffee or soft caramel into your Christmas crackers beforehand, and then watch the delight on faces young and old when a cracker is pulled and out pops the usual gift, hat and joke – and a very tasty treat too!”
And what would a festive feast be without the ubiquitous Christmas pudding and ice cream. But why not turn up the heat this year and add a scrumptious Darling Sweet Toffee Spread sauce to the proceedings? It’s guaranteed to keep everyone coming back for seconds.
Malva Pudding with Darling Sweet Toffee Spread Sauce
(Serves 4-6)

1 egg
¾ cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
pinch of salt
2 tablespoons butter (melted)
2 tablespoons apricot jam 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup milk
Sauce
1 cup cream
½ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
200g Tannie Evita’s Classic Toffee Spread
Method
Whisk the egg and sugar until combined. In a separate bowl, mix all the other ingredients, then stir in the egg and sugar mixture. Mix thoroughly. Transfer the batter to a greased ovenproof dish and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 40 minutes. For the sauce, microwave the toffee spread for 30 seconds. Add the warm toffee spread, vanilla, milk and cream to a bowl and mix. Pour the warm sauce over the pudding. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Darling Sweet’s range of confectionery can be found at selected outlets throughout the country or bought from the online store.
