Hop off at The House Of London’s - The Station On Bree and Lords Restaurant - Cape Town
16 January 2023
After bringing a taste of London to Cape Town’s most trendy dining and party strip for the past six years, The Station on Bree has reopened its doors after a major renovation.
Under the banner of The House of London, the Underground tube-themed restaurant and entertainment venue at 207 Bree Street now brings a fresh and unique twist by adding two new carriages – Lords Restaurant, for dining, and Churchills, with a DJ and dancefloor separate from the dining areas, with a cigar lounge to allow for all-night parties.
Once aboard the train, the distinctive décor of its 1950’s London glamour to ‘Mind the gap’ tube signage and underground announcements in the bathrooms – will transport you straight to London’s tube stations. Choose a shady table in the tree-lined courtyard if you’re in search of a welcome escape from the indoor action.
The House Of London sees the new Lords Restaurant as one of the main attractions to the brand their delicious and well thought of meals will take one on a journey around the world.
“The Station on Bree has always been a favourite with locals and tourists for a quick drink, great food or a night out, and we are excited to expand upon our offering while keeping and elevating the old favourites,” said The Station on Bree founder, Neil Basel.
The Station also hosts the popular First Thursday Upper Bree Street Market, boasting a street vendor market, art exhibition, food trucks, DJs, gin train and street bars.
The Station on Bree has retained its vibrant energy as a relaxed meeting place for post-work cocktails or meeting up with friends and family for dinner. “The Station’s friendly bar staff and relaxing setting offer a pub and tapas-style menu in The Station On Bree Bar area and its elevated dinning carriage Lords allows for seated lunches and dinners with both menus inspired by the melting pot of cultures of individuals that board the London Underground,” Basel said. “Take a food journey with a little bit of something for everyone, from peri-peri chicken livers, to parmesan calamari, truffle oil pastas and sea food platters, fresh leafy green salads, to our vegan and vegetarian offering.”
For those seeking a more formal affair, the Lord’s dining carriage’s beautiful seating area allows for a great meal out in a unique setting. “Patrons can arrive dressed to the nines or in casual beach wear, to enjoy a delicious, elevated spin on the original Station Menu.”
While aboard the train try one of the uniquely crafted cocktails, such as the ‘Last Train Out’, featuring vodka, gin, schnapps and cranberry juice. A selection of South African wines and French champagne completes the wine list.
Each week, the venue hosts top class live musicians and DJs to entertain and create the best vibe this side of Heathrow.
The House of London is also available for event hire for both private, eventing and corporate functions.
