Each year, members of the Cape Winemakers Guild create a once-off wine exclusively for the Guild Auction — a rare opportunity to showcase a distinctive vintage while expressing the individual character and philosophy of each winemaker.

For the 2026 Auction, winemaker Louis Strydom presents the Ernie Els CWG 2023, an elegant yet powerful blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Shiraz and 10% Cinsault, crafted from grapes grown on the estate’s Helderberg vineyards.

Dark crimson in colour, the wine reveals layered aromatics of dried thyme, sage, olive brine and black pepper, followed by silken tannins, vibrant black fruit and a long, finely balanced finish. Complex, structured and unmistakably Stellenbosch, it is a wine made to be savoured.

The Cape Winemakers Guild Auction takes place on Friday, 2 October and Saturday, 3 October 2026, bringing together an exceptional collection of limited-release wines created exclusively by Guild members and available only through this prestigious annual auction.
