Did you know that Hazendal dates back more than 300 years, and was founded in the very earliest days of the Cape Colony? September is Heritage Month in South Africa, and we’d love for you to come and discover the remarkable history placed across this family-owned farm. From the original Jonkershuis, built in 1781, to the elegant Homestead, it’s an estate with a captivating story waiting to be told. Keep an eye out for the information boards located across the estate.

Wondering about all the activity on the estate? Spring 2023 will see another exciting addition to Hazendal, with the opening of the long-awaited Hazendal Hotel. Set alongside the golf course, and overlooking the picturesque farm reservoir, this elegant boutique hotel will offer 34 rooms and suites set around a central courtyard. While the final plans are still under wraps, guests can also look forward to a new restaurant and bar, a state-of-the-art clubhouse and a destination wellness spa.

With summer around the corner, the Stellenbosch winelands is proving to be a hot destination for foreign holidaymakers planning trips to South Africa. According to data mined by global travel portal Cheapflights.co.za, Stellenbosch ranks as the third most popular destination searched for by inbound tourists to SA, only pipped by Johannesburg and Cape Town. With Covid-19 restrictions finally dropped, we’re looking forward to a busy summer season on the farm!

After what feels like a very long Cape winter coming to an end, our vines have begun sprouting their first buds; a sign that Spring is very much on its way to the winelands. The beginnings of warmer weather signify a happy return to welcoming our guests back to the verdant lawns of the Hazendal werf to enjoy our ever-popular picnics. Indulge over a lazy afternoon with our generous picnic baskets filled with fresh seasonal fare and paired  with a bottle of Hazendal wine. Picnics are offered from Tuesday to Sunday, and bookings are essential.
