Greenhouse Restaurant Makes Way For Exclusive Events Venue at The Cellars-Hohenort

20 October 2021

The Liz McGrath Collection has announced the closure of Greenhouse restaurant on 13 November 2021 (as the last day of service). It will be the end of an era for the award-winning fine dining restaurant, coinciding with the departure of head chef Farrel Hirsch for Ireland where he will be taking up a position at Finn Lough.

The Greenhouse premises will be transformed into an events venue within the grounds of the Cellars-Hohenort, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. The hotel will now have a dedicated, indoor venue to host a range of private events all year round in the historical Hohenort building, which remains a landmark in Cape Town’s Constantia Valley. The new event space is set to meet the increasing demand for exclusive private functions and stylish weddings at the hotel. Bookings are now open for the upcoming festive season.

On the culinary front, going forward the Cellars-Hohenort will focus on The Conservatory restaurant where talented Executive Chef Tronette Dippenaar is continuing a celebrated career within The Liz McGrath Group. Dippenaar has been a rising star within The Liz McGrath Collection over the past 13 years, having worked her way up through the ranks at sister-hotels The Marine and The Plettenberg. During that time, she developed her skills and creativity as a chef and worked closely with her mentor, Relais & Châteaux Grand Chef Peter Templehoff, who was the Executive Chef for The Liz McGrath Collection for eleven years.

The Greenhouse is open for dinner bookings (Tuesday to Saturday), up 13 November 2021, so don’t miss the last opportunity to enjoy Farrel’s award-winning creations.
