The President Hotel Celebrates the importance of World Sleep Day
14 March 2025
In recognition of World Sleep Day on 14 March 2025, The President Hotel is highlighting the importance of quality rest in today's fast-paced world. According to the World Sleep Society's 2024 data, approximately one-third of adults worldwide experience sleep problems, with work-related stress being a leading contributor to poor sleep quality.
'We're seeing more guests struggling to switch off and truly unwind. The constant notifications, emails and screen time have made it harder than ever to get proper rest,' says Jeremy Clayton, Managing Director at The President Hotel. 'World Sleep Day gives us a chance to remind people that quality sleep isn't just a nice-to-have – it's essential for our health."
To commemorate this global wellness day, The President Hotel has launched an innovative Rest Package, starting from R5950 per person (single occupancy). This sleep wellness experience begins with VIP check-in, where a dedicated concierge guides guests directly to their sleep sanctuary. Each room is thoughtfully prepared with a curated welcome hamper featuring a sleep kit which includes an eye mask, ear plugs and SLPWELL Mouth Tape (for improved breathing and sleep).
A highlight of the experience is a 60-minute Mindful Dreams in-room massage, a signature sleep therapy treatment developed at the hotel’s Cove Wellness Spa, dedicated to relaxation and rejuvenation. Guests can also enjoy bespoke wellness treatments at the spa, including restorative facials, massages and aromatherapy sessions designed to promote deeper sleep. The journey to relaxation continues with an aromatherapy bath/shower turndown service featuring lavender and chamomile oils, setting the scene for a restful night.
Guests can select their perfect pillow from a specialised Sleep Enhancement Menu featuring five distinct pillow options, each designed to support different sleeping styles and preferences. There’s also a Soothing Sounds podcast playlist featuring guided meditations or a white noise machine for optimal relaxation.
The evening continues with a selection of sleep-promoting beverages, including golden milk and chamomile tea, alongside a dedicated wellness dinner menu specially designed for this wellness package. Dinner options include choices such as spinach and kale salad, miso and mushroom broth, Cape salmon, saffron cauliflower steak and cocoa and berry dessert.
The following morning begins with a wellness breakfast in bed or at the hotel's Botany Café. This plant-based, immune-boosting breakfast is designed for optimal gut health, with choices including kombucha, green juice, superfood smoothie, smoothie bowl, overnight oats, protein pancakes or eggs with avocado and greens.
For stays of two nights or longer, the package includes nature immersion experiences such as guided trail walks, cold water therapy or sunrise hikes along the Sea Point Promenade. Guests benefit from personalised service, curated amenities and tailored wellness experiences that extend beyond traditional hotel offerings.
