Well-known top restaurateur, Riaan Southgate, has made the best move of his career to join the Manuka Group as General Manager of Manuka Tokai. Riaan has been a familiar face to restaurant goers in Southern Suburbs for more than 12 years now, successfully running the Little Creek Spur in Tokai, The Golden River Spur in Fish Hoek and Pastis Bistro Brasserie.
Fully qualified as a sports management trainer, Riaan is happy to be on his toes making sure everything is 100% to your satisfaction. ‘I studied sports management with the idea of leaving the restaurant industry, but after finishing my studies I realised I could never leave this industry – I love it far too much. What other industry are you able to make some-one’s day EVERYDAY and get to feel like Father Christmas for doing it?’ Beams Riaan.
Besides making sure your food, wine and service needs are met to the best of his ability, Riaan will also be focusing extensively on staff training as he has realised that the service industry is one of the most important especially with the 2010 World Cup just around the corner, “Good service will just be one of the ways we can show foreigners how great South Africa really is,” says Riaan.
