A Diverse Trio of BBC Celebrity Chefs

bring global foods to The Sunday Times Food Show
kürtçe müzik dinle

The Sunday Times is proud to announce that Ching-He Huang and Gino Dcampo are the two BBC Celebrity chefs joining Reza Mahammad at the 2008 Sunday Times Food Show. Italians, Indians, and the Chinese are nations obsessed with food and while these much loved chefs all live and work in London, their cooking styles encapsulate the very best of their native cuisines. However, they also represent a global trend towards delving and drawing from other cultural cuisines and techniques, ingredients and flavourings that modern upscale foodies have embraced with a passion. The average urban family eats a global diet with a weekly menu likely to include pasta alfredo, chicken tikka, beef stir fry, Thai green curry, or tortillas and refried beans.

The show at the Sandton Convention Centre from 3 6 July caters for all those tastes and more, promising a packed food programme that will see our celebrity chefs show off their skills, create their signature dishes and pit their talents against top local chefs. All three are seasoned food show chefs enjoying the excitement of live cooking action as well as the opportunity to meet their loyal fans.

Reza Mahammad is back by popular demand after wowing crowds at last year food show. The owner of well-known restaurant, Star of India in London, for more than 25 years, Reza has an enormous following since his television series, A Place in France II and III, Coconut Coast in 2003 and United States of Reza in 2004. His inimitable style and personality, innovative Indian fusion food and use of spices make for exciting food theatre.

Another lover of the hot stuff is Ching, a liberal user of potent red chillies whose cooking style is rooted in a southern Taiwanese cuisine. What most South Africans will be delighted to know is that Ching is an ex-South African! Her family immigrated to South Africa from Taiwan when she was just 5 but decided to move to London six years later. Ching diminutive appearance belies a dynamic television presence that led to her own show Ching Kitchen in 2005, aired on UKTV Food. Since then Ching has made many TV appearances, becoming a regular guest on ITV Saturday Cooks and Daily Cooks, UKTV Market Kitchen and C5 Cooking The Books, among others.

Her first cookbook, China Modern was published in 2006 and BBC food channel addicts can look forward to her first primetime series for BBC2 in July 2008. A self-taught cook and food entrepreneur, Ching is the culinary brain behind two well-known brands that retail in UK stores, hing Noodlesand su,a range of health beverages.

Gino Dcampo, of An Italian in Mexico fame is a favourite with food lovers the world over. His romantic accent coupled with a hard to resist exuberance makes him a delightful addition to this fabulous line-up. Gino was a mere boy when he followed his grandfather into the profession by enrolling at Luigi de Medici Catering College at the age of fifteen. He honed his talents in restaurants in Europe, including Perignon in Nice and a spell as Head Chef at Sylvester Stallone Mambo King in Marbella before coming to England at the age of 20.

Gino has worked on Head Chef assignments in London restaurants - including Pane Vino and The Orchard before joining a major Italian food company as Development Chef. He has also created recipes for Tesco, arguably their finest range. Gino now owns his own import and distribution company, Bonta Italia, and continues as development consultant chef for ready-meals manufacturing companies. Gino first book, Fantastico!, was published in October 2007 and his second, Bellissimo!, follows in autumn 2008.

Tickets to watch your favourite BBC celebrity Chefs will go on sale at Computicket in May.
